Singing to Learn

Singing

My Year 9 students love to sing to learn French.  By Year 10 and 11 they are a little too cool to sing but in Year 12 and 13 they are ready to sing again, even those little ditties they learned in Year 9.

There are some fun websites where language teachers can find good songs to celebrate a cultural event, to teach a grammar point, or to expand linguistic ability for communication.  Apart from the array on Youtube, my first stop shop, there are many others:

Here’s my favourite French song of all time, taught as part of the poetry unit in Year 13:  Jacques Prevert’s Barbara sung by Yves Montand
